MATZMICHIM - UPLIFTERS

The Israeli Violence Reduction Organization

Reducing Violence and Bullying

Building a Positive Group Climate

Driving Social Change

Preventing Cyberbulling

For over two decades, Matzmichim Academy has worked to reduce violence and strengthen belonging by addressing one of the most powerful drivers of behavior: group norms. The name “Matzmichim” (Hebrew for “uplifters”) reflects our core belief- that every group holds the potential to elevate its members and create positive change from within.

Our evidence-based model (Assor, 2023) focuses on shifting peer dynamics, creating environments where positive behavior is reinforced and violence and exclusion lose their social power.

Our programs are trusted by leading public institutions, including the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Defense, and Ministry of Justice, and are implemented across diverse settings- from schools and universities to military units, sports teams, and workplaces.

Today, Matzmichim operates nationwide through a team of over 80 highly trained facilitators, reaching more than 500 schools each year and training hundreds of educators annually. This creates a multiplier effect that enables lasting change within communities long after each intervention ends.
